RE

My name is Wendy Strain and I am Trust Curriculum director for RE.

Why is RE so important to me?

I’m passionate about teaching RE because I’ve seen it empower the children to develop a greater understanding of themselves and others as they learn about the relationship between faith, belief and world views in life.  As we live in a multicultural world, I believe it is vital that the children have the opportunity to develop insight, foster respect and celebrate people’s differences as well as recognising their similarities.

What is the Trust vision for RE?

My vision is that all children are able to access and develop their religious literacy; using a widening vocabulary to explain their increasing knowledge of religious and non-religious world views, building up connections between concepts, understanding religious diversity, developing critical thinking skills to ask more sophisticated questions and growing in their own personal reflection.
