Meet the Team
Jonny Murray- Eden Academy Trust Director of Physical Education
Since I was young, I have enjoyed taking part in sports due to the mental and physical benefits associated with staying active. I loved been active and playing many sports, however football was the one sport I thoroughly enjoyed playing with my friends on the streets and at the park. Eventually progressing to playing at grassroots level with many teams’ local teams.
During my college and university years, I studied sports coaching and exercise, science; to learn how I could make a positive impact on young people and children whilst coaching in primary schools. After my college and university days I become a sports coach in a local primary school in Hartlepool, where I worked for 6 years, during that time we successfully achieved the first platinum school games award in the town.
I was then appointed as Eden Academy Trusts Sports coach working across 3 primary schools, since then we have grown to a sports department with 5 sports coaches, 2 sporting experts, leading The Collective Cluster, and delivering PE in 11 primary school in Hartlepool and its surrounding areas.
What I like about Eden Academy Trust Sports partnership is the fact that our CEO and SLT’s support and value physical education, allowing myself and the coaching team to make a positive impact, supporting the children to develop a lifelong love for sport and physical activity.
